TOPIC:: United States of America Sickle Cell Disease Management Standards and a Case of Bone Marrow and Cord Blood Transplant in sickle cell disease patients.
A conference was held at Nsambya Hospital Kampala, UGANDA to sensitize nurses and other medical staff that take care of Sickle Cell Patients. Educating them allows them to understand and demystify some of the notions associated with the disease in regards to our cultural beliefs. Some people think the disease is transfable by coming in close contact with patients and others think its an OMEN that is sent to someone by witchcraft.

SICKLE CELL CHARITY WALK

Participants: Schools, Nursing organisations, Police, Boys Scout Band.

Sickle cell awareness Charity Walk started from Mulago nurses hostel at Mulago Hospital to Kampala City Square and back to Mulago covering a distance of 3 miles. Everybody was in high spirits and thousands of bystanders took time to read the placards that were on display by the marchers. This was organised by UASCRF in conjuntion with Sickle Cell Association of Uganda (SAU)
